After graduating from college, Todd went to Bethesda for the job but was denied. So, he started working in smaller game companies.

In 1994, Bethesda Softwares finally hired Todd Howards as a producer. Firstly, he worked as the director and producer of The Terminator: Future Shock game in 1995. After that, he worked as a designer on Skynet and The Elders Scrolls 2.

In 1998, he became the project leader for the first time. Moreover, In 2000, he was the project leader and designer for Elder Scrolls 3. This game was released in 2002 and won several Games of the year awards.
